The challenge

Intrinsic were invited by Inky Smudge to do some SEO work for SB Projects.

SB Projects is a design and construction company working on commercial building projects.

Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the practice of ensuring your website is easily found by search engines.

As part of a strategy to grow the business, SB Projects wanted to increase traffic to their website. We’ve had great success with Google Adwords, so we knew that would be part of the solution.

What we did

With any web project, it’s important that all parties agree on the scope of work. In other words, what EXACTLY is the problem we’re trying to solve?

We engaged with the client over the following activities:

  • We analysed the website with a specific focus on search engine optimisation.
  • In addition we conducted an heuristic evaluation against best practice usability guidelines and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0.

Recommendations

Our analysis led to making the following recommendations, to be implemented over 2 key phases.

  • We recommended the site content and structure undergo small modifications to make the site more search engine friendly.
  • We recommended the implementation of a Google Adwords campaign which will likely increase site visitation. To measure the effectiveness of the Adwords campaign, we recommended Google Analytics be configured and used in conjunction with Adwords.
  • As part of Phase 2, we encouraged SB Projects develop a content and communication strategy to guide a continuous improvement cycle.
  • In addition, as part of Phase 2, we felt a detailed Accessibility review should be conducted with site modifications made where necessary to meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA compliance.

We were engaged solely for SEO work. Site design had already been done and maintenance was handled by another web designer. We did suggest a future re-design to be more mobile friendly.

The 12 month project includes:

  • Updating the website content and meta data
  • A Google Adwords campaign
  • On-going reporting and website tweaking.
